The short film is not a shorter feature. It has it’s own set of rules and dynamics. Like other film formats, short filmmaking demands excellence in direction, performance, cinematography, editing, and all the other cinematic crafts. These crafts all aid to interpret one thing. The script. A bad script = a bad film.

If you have a short script you’re having trouble with, want to learn some rewrite/polish tips, or have never written a short script before but are willing to put one together and workshop it in an intensive all day class – then read on!

The idea is to:

- Get your script (10 pgs max) to the other participants a week in advance for review.
- Breakdown and workshop the scripts in a constructive and enthusiastic environment.
- Learn tactics and strategies to make your script’s story elements sharper and deeper.

This one day seminar with a max of five participants and screenwriter/instructor Michael Giampa (http://finearts.uvic.ca/writing/faculty/giampa/) is geared towards folks who have a “work in progress” or a working understanding of screenplay structure.

The end result will be an intensive (but fun) day’s work, strengthening both your script and writing skills to help you craft a solid blueprint for the film you are yearning to create.
