Call for Filmmakers Registration
CineVic is looking for BC filmmakers wanting to register for the 4th Annual Reel to Reel Challenge. Registration deadline is Monday July 27th, 2009. Films must be completed by Monday September 14th, 2009.
The Victoria-based CineVic Society of Independent Filmmakers is presently registering local filmmakers looking to participate in our annual Reel to Reel Challenge.
Now in it's fourth year, this popular annual event teams up local filmmakers with local musical artists of all genres.
This popular event will see the creation of a short musical film built around a local artist’s song, culminating in a screening night where awards will be handed out to the best entrants. The songs, choosen by a selection jury, are handed out at random to registered filmmakers on Aug 4, 2009.
Not only is Reel to Reel a great networking tool, it also is a chance for the participants to win cash and prizes! Each year, when the finished films are screened they are judged by the audience and by a jury panel comprised of a lot of local talent, ranging from filmmakers, musicians, writers and programmers from local radio stations.
This year’s screening will be held September 19th, 2009 at the Victoria Event Centre.
As in previous years, CineVic is hoping to get submissions from filmmakers open to working in any genre; from animation, experimental and traditional linear narratives, you name it—the only limitations on the filmmakers is their imagination!
BC based filmmaker Ana de Lara’s short film “In Control†started as a Reel to Reel project and went on to win awards and screen in festivals all over North America, including a Jury Prize at Toronto’s esteemed 2008 Commffest.
